Meet Cristóbal Jiménez, a dedicated community leader whose passion for environmental advocacy and commitment to equity shine brightly. Cristóbal began leading excursions to protect the Northeast Ecological Corridor with the intention of fighting for its protection, “por mi pasión y conexión con mi comunidad y entorno.” Eventually he helped this area become an officially designated nature preserve and even co-managed the reserve.

Cristóbal's efforts extend beyond conservation. As the Puerto Rico director of Corazón Latino, he collaborates with the El Yunque National Forest, integrating disenfranchised communities into forest management plans. From supporting community recovery post-Hurricane Maria to co-creating a conservation curriculum, Cristóbal's work not only preserves natural resources but also uplifts Puerto Rican communities, fostering identity, integration, and social well-being. His advocacy goes beyond environmental impact, creating a legacy of inclusivity and empowerment for current and future generations.
